Scholarship Appeal

June/26/22

Leadership Vancouver Island is appealing to LVI alumni and friends once again to raise funds for scholarships to be awarded to worthy individuals and organizations. Our goal this year is $20,000. Sounds like a big number however we are well on the way! Last year we joined Rotary Nanaimo Daybreak in their 25/25 challenge. We were successful in raising over $8000 which we utilized to subsidize 3 candidates on the program.

We have been successful in obtaining a grant of $7,500 per year over three years from the Real Estate Foundation of BC with the assistance of the Vancouver Island Real Estate Board(VIREB). This will allow 3 VIREB members per year to attend over the next three years. Rotary Nanaimo Daybreak is working on a scholarship of $2,500. We have a couple of other scholarships the in the final stages with the Nanaimo Chamber and Snuneymuxw First Nation to sponsor an Indigenous candidate from their development arm Petroglyph Development Corp. That should take us to $13,000!

We hope to raise at least $7,000 for a worthy Indigenous individual, a student, a volunteer or employee of a non-profit organization, or anyone who require assistance to attend the LVI program! Nanaimo Brain Injury Society headed by long term friend of LVI Kix Citton and Clay Tree Society wish to send folks who are not in a position financially to do so. Perhaps your organization or business would like to sponsor a candidate this year or make a contribution to a full or partial scholarship. We would be delighted to provide additional information to the appropriate individual.

Contributions can be made by e-transfer to info@leadershipvi.com (no password required) and more information is available from Russ Burke at russellmburke@shaw.ca

Thank-you for your support of Leadership Vancouver Island. Special thanks to those who contributed last year!
