Leadership Vancouver Island (LVI) is a non-profit organization dedicated to developing and enhancing the leadership skills of individuals on Vancouver Island. LVI offers a leadership program that combines skill-building workshops, networking opportunities, and community projects to help participants develop the knowledge, skills, and relationships necessary to become effective community leaders.

Over the years, LVI has made significant contributions to the community by developing a network of leaders committed to making positive changes in their communities. Many LVI alumni have held leadership positions in non-profit organizations, businesses, and government agencies. They have used their skills and knowledge to make a difference in people’s lives in their communities.

Currently, LVI is seeking a secretary to join their team. The successful candidate should possess excellent organizational and communication skills, work effectively in a team environment, and hopefully have experience in a secretarial or administrative role. Knowledge of the Microsoft 365 and document storage and document-sharing software is also an asset.

The Secretary will be responsible for attending and participating in monthly board meetings, drafting and distributing monthly meeting agendas, capturing minutes and distributing them, and ensuring agendas, minutes, and other important documents are saved for posterity. Additionally, the Secretary will act as a signing officer and assist with the orientation of new Board members, recruit potential participants and board members when necessary. Finally, updating the monthly board calendar is vital to remind board members of their monthly tasks to keep the society on track.

The Secretary role is a critical component of LVI’s leadership team. You will have the opportunity to enhance your leadership capacity by filling this position. You will also gain valuable experience in a non-profit leadership setting. In addition, participating in LVI events provides valuable networking opportunities and a chance to make a positive change in your community.
